Ce Rosenow (B.A. 1989 Santa Clara University; M.A. 1995 Portland State University; Ph.D. 2002 University of Oregon) is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Literature in the Clark Honors College at the University of Oregon. An Americanist specializing in American modernisms and in the relationship between American poetry and Japanese culture, her scholarly research focuses on the work of modernist poets including Amy Lowell and Ezra Pound, as well as on the American haiku movement. She is currently the Oregon Regional Coordinator for the Haiku Society of America. Her press, Mountains and Rivers Press, publishes books of poetry by writers, such as Cid Corman, whose work is the subject of her latest book. In The Next One Thousand Years, The Selected Poems of Cid Corman, Rosenow further underscores Corman's importance as a poet, publisher, and translator and demonstrates that Corman's impact on twentieth century poetry cannot be underestimated. Corman was one of the first to publish major poets such as Robert Creeley and Gary Snyder. Because he lived much of his life in Japan, Corman's original work is informed by Japanese poetic traditions. After Corman died in 2004, Rosenow began working with Bob Arnold, poet, editor, and literary executor for Corman's estate, to select poems from Corman's hundreds of books, chapbooks, and broadsides, most of which are out of print. Blending these poems with others from three previously unpublished manuscripts, Rosenow and Arnold have created an extensive selection of Corman's insightful, witty, and thought-provoking poems and translations. Other of Rosenow's published books and chapbooks of poetry include North Lake, Even If, A Year Longer, and The Backs of Angels.
